Stephen Twigg (MP for Liverpool West Derby)

Stephen has been MP for Liverpool West Derby since 2010. He is PPS to the Acting Leader of the Labour Party, Harriet Harman MP.

Already well known in Labour circles as a former President of the National Union of Students, a London councillor and General Secretary of the Fabian Society, Stephen gained wider fame in 1997 when he was elected MP for Enfield Southgate, toppling Michael Portillo.

In Parliament, Stephen was Deputy Leader of the House of Commons and Schools Minister. After leaving Parliament in 2005, he was Director of the Foreign Policy Centre and worked for the Aegis Trust fighting genocide.
