Ed Balls (MP for Morley & Outwood)
Ed is an active member of Normanton and District Co-operative Party and a Co-operative party delegate to Pontefract and Castleford Labour Party General Committee.
Before being elected MP for Normanton in 2005, Ed was the Chief Economic Adviser to the Treasury and has worked with trade unions, local council and Labour/Co-op members to promote Labour and Co-operative principles at a regional and local level. Since being a Member of Parliament, Ed was a Treasury Minister before becoming a Cabinet Minister, as Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families. Ed is only the third ever Labour & Co-operative MP in the Cabinet, following A V Alexander and Alun Michael.
