Britain’s worker co-operatives have begun to use a new label to help consumers support this form of organisation. “Worker co-operatives are businesses that are owned and democratically controlled by their employee members using co-operative principles. They are an alternative to investor owned models of enterprise.” The ‘Made By Co-op Hands’ logo is being promoted by Calverts, among others, so that shoppers and service users know that companies are worker-owned.

This is part of a wider set of initiatives currently raising the profile of worker co-ops, including a Facebook group and a blog by John Atherton, Worker Co-operative Development Officer for Co-operatives UK.
