Labour & Co-operative victory in the Wirral

A Labour & Co-operative candidate gained a council seat last night from the Conservatives on the Wirral.

Phil Brightmore, a well-known Merseyside activist, won with a majority of 543 from the Conservatives, in the three-way marginal seat of Pensby and Thingwall.

Philip was joined by Co-operative and Labour Party members from right around the country, including Chuka Umunna MP, Andrew Miller MP and Maria Eagle MP.

Quoted in the Liverpool Echo, Philip said his victory was a “clear vindication” that voters wanted “someone who will fight their corner” and added: “Labour will stand up for the people of Wirral.”
