The idea behind the co-operative movement is simple: we believe businesses and organisations should be owned by their members – not distant shareholders. Whether that’s workers owning their workplace, customers owning their local shop, or fans owning their football club, we want to create an economy that builds communities, where power and ownership are shared.
That’s why our movement founded the Co-operative Party, and for nearly a century we’ve had an electoral pact with the Labour Party. Together, we elect joint Labour & Co-operative representatives, giving our ideas influence where it matters – in Parliament, on councils, and in communities across the UK.
We’re an independent political party, and as a member you can help shape our platform, policies, and campaigns. Sign up today to get involved.
