Could you be a member of the Co-operative Party's Disciplinary Committee?

The NEC is committed to amending the Party’s disciplinary process, including the introduction of an independent body to consider complaints.

Until a new system is in place however, the important work of the elected Co-operative Party Disciplinary Committee (CPDC) will continue and we are now seeking to fill vacant places.

You can read the full remit of the CPDC on page 29 of the Rule Book.

Current vacancies

The CPDC has 22 representatives – two each from Scotland and Northern Ireland, Wales and the nine English regions. The NEC may also appoint up to 4 additional members to address issues of under-representation.

We are now seeking members from the following:

  • East of England – 1 member, who must be a female
  • East Midlands – 2 members, one man and one woman
  • North East & North Cumbria – 2 members,
  • North West – 2 members, one of which must be a female
  • Scotland or Northern Ireland – 1 member, who must be a female
  • South West – 1 member, who must be a female
  • Wales – 1 member, who must be a female
  • West Midlands – 1 member, who must be a female
  • Yorkshire & the Humber – 1 member, who must be a female

Who is eligible?

The size of the CPDC has been increased for this election to help to ensure diversity on the Committee and we particularly encourage BAME, LGBTQ+ and disabled members to stand for election.

Members who have relevant experience or training e.g. through their trade union are also urged to apply.

Additionally, members of the CPDC must:

  • have been a member of the Co-operative Party for five years
  • live in the nation or region for which they are seeking nomination
  • not be a member of the NEC, MP, MSP, MS or member of staff.
  • agree to undergo appropriate training if and as necessary

You can read the full rules for the election on p. 30 of the Rule Book.

How to apply

This election is by self-nomination.  If you have read the guidelines above, please complete the nomination form below by midnight on Sunday 25 April.
