Central Midlands Council Candidate Session

Tuesday 18th January – 6pm

As part of promoting more democratic and ethical communities, the Central Midlands Co-operative Party is hosting a series of online information sessions aimed at aspiring and existing local authority councillors.

With around 300 seats up for election in May 2021 across the West Midlands, there is a great opportunity to grow the number of co-operative councillors and help to increase their understanding and awareness of co-operative issues in their communities.

The second of these online sessions focuses on how to achieve co-operative changes in local government – both in power and in opposition – and will be delivered by representatives from the Co-operative Councils’ Innovation Network including Cllr Sharon Taylor OBE, Chair of the CCIN and Leader of Stevenage Borough Council and Cllr Sue Woodward, Vice Chair of Values & Principles Board and Leader of Burntwood Town Council.

This follows a successful event in December on the national Co-operative Party’s process and how it can support candidates. Future sessions will look at how you can put co-operation into action in your local community.
