Helping to combat food poverty

We know that helping to combat food poverty is an issue that’s close to our members hearts. And it’s important to us too.

We want to do as much as possible to support our local
foodbanks, whose dedication and commitment ensures that vulnerable members of our community do not go without.

Since March, we have given £75,500 from our Community Cares Fund to ensure that 24 foodbanks across our region can continue to help those in need in their local communities.

Our in-store foodbank donation drive has come to an end. We had an overwhelming response from our colleagues, members and customers and we collected an amazing 4.7 tonnes which is just over 1,800 meals so a BIG thank you from us.

As part of our continuing support we will be asking the Foodbanks for their most needed items every month. To find out more about the foodbank we support at your local store and the items they need, please click on the table below.

Norfolk

Great Yarmouth Foodbank have told us that they need tinned fruit, tinned rice pudding, tinned meat, mash potatoes and puddings of any kind this month. Donate now at your local store;

Mid Norfolk Foodbank have told us that they need long-life fruit juice, sweet treats and puddings, tinned meat, tinned carrots/peas and jam this month. Donate now at your local store;

Norwich Foodbank have told us that they need tinned potatoes, tinned riced pudding, tinned custard, men's deodorant and crisps this month. Donate now at your local store;

Briston Salvation Army have told us that they need tinned fruit, tinned meats, tinned custard / rice pudding, long-life milk and tinned veg this month. Donate now at your local store;

Martham Foodbank have told us they need tinned vegetables e.g. peas, potatoes, tinned rice pudding, boxes of breakfast cereal and long-life semi skimmed milk this month. Donate at your local store;

Suffolk

The BASIC Life Charity, Felixstowe have told us that they need cleaning products, nappies, washing powder, washing up liquid and shower gel this month. Donate now at your local store;

Felixstowe Salvation Army have told us that they need instant custard, crisps, biscuits, small jars of coffee and tinned tuna this month. Donate now at your local store;

FIND, Ipswich have told us that they need coffee, 500g bags of granulated sugar, tinned corned beef, tinned rice pudding and drinking chocolate this month. Donate now at your local store;

Hadleigh Foodbank have told us that they need any mens & ladies toiletries, tomato ketchup & salad cream, squash, tinned carrots, potatoes and sweetcorn and crisps this month. Donate now at your local store;

Reach Foodbank have told us that they need long-life sponge puddings, tinned potatoes, tinned spaghetti, 500g bag of sugar and squash this month. Donate now at your local store;

Lowestoft Foodbank have told us that they need tinned fruit, coffee, instant mash, custard and tinned vegetables this month. Donate now at your local store;

Stowmarket & Area Foodbank have told us that they need tinned potatoes, tinned carrots, tinned rice pudding, jars of jam and cereal bars this month. Donate now at your local store;

Woodbridge Salvation Army have told us that they need tinned meat, tins of soup, tinned rice pudding, tinned fruit and bags of sugar this month. Donate now at your local store;

Waveney Foodbank have told us that they need instant mash, tinned rice pudding, part baked bread and microwave desserts this month. Donate now at your local store;

Both Gatehouse and Storehouse Foodbanks have very generous communities and currently have enough stock so the stores that normally collect for them will be collecting for other Foodbanks who are in need.

Essex

Braintree Area Foodbank have told us that they need chocolate bars, cereal bars, rice pudding, long-life sponge pudding and long-life fruit juice (1 litre) this month. Donate now at your local store;

Colchester Foodbank have told us that they need tinned fish, men's and women's deodorants, shaving gel, shampoo and shower gel this month. Donate now at your local store;

 

Dengie Food Pantry have told us that they need tinned cold meats, tinned meat pies, tinned rice pudding, sugar and coffee this month. Donate now at your local store;

Harwich & District Community Foodbank have told us that they need tinned spaghetti, tinned meat, tinned fruit, pasta sauce and crisps this month. Donate now at your local store;

Maldon Food Pantry have told us that they need tinned meat or fish, pasta sauce, tinned fruit and vegetables, bags of sugar (500g) and biscuits this month. They currently do not need baked beans, soup or pasta. Donate now at your local store;

Manningtree Foodbank have told us that they need tinned meat especially Fray Bentos steak & kidney pie, jam or marmalade, tinned fruit, tinned custard and biscuits this month. Donate now at your local store;

Walton & District Foodbank have told us that they need tinned rice pudding / custard, tinned fruit and vegetables, jelly/desserts, pasta sauce and bags of sugar (500g) this month. Donate now at your local store;

The Clacton Foodbank has a very generous community and currently has enough stock so the stores that normally collect for them will be collecting for other Foodbanks who are in need.
