Events like our Annual Conference, which will take place 9th-10th October this year, take many months of hard work and planning by our team to organise. This means we’re already looking ahead to October to plan what shape our Annual Conference will take.
While there is hope on the horizon with the vaccine rollout, we cannot be certain if it will be safe for our members to meet at a large gathering of hundreds of people in October. We also know even if the situation with the pandemic has improved, many members would not feel comfortable at a large event involving travel from all over the country if the virus is still in circulation – even with a reduced prevalence. Above all, your safety is our biggest priority and we want to hold our conference in an inclusive environment where all of our members can safely take part.
Therefore we’ve taken the decision to once again hold a virtual annual conference in October. By making this decision now, we can plan for the best virtual event possible – inviting speakers from across the UK and indeed across the world to discuss co-operative ideas and policy. While we will be sad to not see friends, colleagues and co-operators in person, the fantastic feedback we received from our virtual annual conference – our largest, most inclusive, most diverse conference yet – gives us confidence that our virtual event will still be the highlight of your conference season.
