Co-operative Party 100: The Next Century – Hackney branch

Join members from the Hackney branch for a special event to celebrate the Co-operative Party’s 100th birthday.

The event will be a social meeting with free drinks and snacks to celebrate 100 years of the Co-op party.  The event will feature 2 films:

• The Rochdale Pioneers – a British biographical feature film, released in 2012, that tells the story of the foundation of the first successful cooperative retail store by working class members of the Rochdale Society of Equitable Pioneers, in 1844
• The Peace Parade – made by The Co-operative Party in 1937 and shows a peace demonstration organised by the London Co-operative Society Political Committee. It shows the procession route past the Houses of Parliament and onto Hyde Park. The film shows addresses from Alfred Barnes, MP and Reginald Gosling, president of the London Co-operative Society.
