We will be welcoming Onkar Sahota AM, our local Labour and Co-operative GLA Assembly Member, at the key halfway point in the London administration of Sadiq Khan as Mayor and the GLA Labour team. Onkar can talk about the work that Sadiq and Labour have been doing to promote a growing co-operative sector in London. In addition, Onkar also serves as the Chair of the London Assembly Health Committee, and can report on developments in the London NHS and the Mayor’s health improvement agenda.

We will also be joined by Ria Bernard, the Secretary of the London Co-operative Party, who will talk about the next steps in the Co-op Party’s Modern Slavery Campaign. As you may know, following our representations (with particular thanks to Cllr Miriam Rice), the Labour Group on the Council proposed the Co-op Party model motion on modern slavery at a recent full Council meeting, which was agreed unanimously.

This meeting will also provide us with a chance to celebrate and commemorate the life of Cllr Tej Ram Bagha, our long-time member, Labour and Co-operative Cllr and Mayor in 2014-15, who sadly died on 21st September.

Your apologies will be appreciated if you are unable to attend to coop@east-acton.com
