Tell the Government:
Guarantee free school meals for self-isolating pupils

Free school meals are a vital lifeline for many families: for some children, it may be the only nutritious meal they receive in a day. Yet a gaping hole in Government guidance means children who are required to self-isolate may be going hungry because they aren't receiving their free school meals.

The Government has recommended that schools provide benefits-related free schools meals to children who are self-isolating, but still hasn't provided clear guidance or examples on how to do so.

This lack of clarity for schools has led to a patchwork of different solutions across the country, and too many children are slipping through the cracks. Infants have been excluded altogether and we've already heard reports of families needing to visit food banks because of this crucial oversight.

The Government was forced to step up over the summer and provide free school meals to children out of school. They should do the same now, and guarantee that no children should miss out on a meal because they are required to self-isolate.

Will you add your name now and call on the Government to step up and guarantee free school meals for self-isolating pupils?
