The way members of the Senedd are being elected is changing, and the government is currently consulting on the detail of how they do that.
There is just one problem: the rules as they stand do not allow Co-operative candidates to be identified on the ballot paper. Coupled with recent changes to UK electoral law, that would mean the Co-operative Party would not be able to fully campaign for and publicly show support for our Co-operative candidates in 2026.
Co-operative campaigning has a long and storied history in Wales, and our Party and members should not be stopped from campaigning for the candidates and causes they care about during the election period. We are urgently calling on the Welsh government to rectify this, and ensure we can continue to campaign for our candidates during the election.
Take action now: send an email to the consultation on these changes to help keep Wales co-operative.
