Modern slavery is a heinous crime which sees men, women and children forced to work against their will in some of the most horrific circumstances. Our movement has long campaigned to end modern slavery and improve the support and protections we provide to its victims. But now, all of that work is under threat.
The Government's Illegal Migration Bill, which is currently proceeding through Parliament, will take a sledgehammer to the rights of modern slavery victims. It will deny victims access to the most basic support (such as sexual assault support services for victims of sex trafficking), and instead see them detained and deported.
Will you ask your MP to back amendments to this Bill to force the Government to appoint and consult with an Independent Anti-Slavery Commissioner, and remove the cruel measures targeting slavery victims?
