Claire McCarthy Former General Secretary 27th January 2018 Party News Share Tweet Marking Holocaust Memorial Day, Claire McCarthy, General Secretary of the Co-operative Party said: Holocaust Memorial Day is an important time to remember the horrific, devastating and abhorrent murder of 6 million Jewish men, women and children and other victims of Nazi persecution; as well as the many many victims of other genocides perpetrated around the world. It is also a time for us to redouble our efforts to ensure that prejudice, intolerance and hatred have no space in our communities or in our discourse today. The Co-operative Party takes a zero tolerance approach to all types of discrimination, harassment and abuse. We want all members to feel safe, welcome and respected in our party and at our meetings and events. If any members experience or witness behaviour which does not meet the high standards we expect then I would urge them to report it immediately so that an appropriate investigation and action can be taken.
