Could you help steer our Party though the next three years to 2023? Nominations are now open for elections to the Co-operative Party’s NEC, to take office for from June 2020. Karen Wilkie Deputy General Secretary & Company Board Secretary 19th December 2019 Blog Share Tweet We are seeking – Eleven national and regional members – one each for Scotland & Northern Ireland (combined), Wales and the nine English regions. This time, the elections for the the South East region, Scotland & Northern Ireland and Wales will be for women only candidates. One Youth representative (under 27). These are elected by all members under 30. Two representatives of our Societies and affiliates (one man and one woman). These are nominated and elected by our affiliated organisations. For the 11 national and regional seats and Youth representative, we are inviting members to self-nominate. After nominations close on 6 February, Party Councils and branches will have an opportunity to endorse nominated candidates. To seek election as a Societies and affiliates representative, contact your Society or affiliate to request a nomination. The NEC sets the strategic direction for the Party and its policy and is also the Board of Co-operative Party Ltd., so its members also need to understand and take responsibility for the governance and legislative obligations of a registered Society.
