Last week I submitted a motion in the Scottish Parliament praising Scotmid Co-operative for donating £25,000 to the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) Ukraine Appeal.  I am pleased to say that the motion has achieved cross-party support.

As a Lothian MSP it is important to see the support for the community here in Scotland and around the world from the Edinburgh-based co-operative.

I know that the co-operative movement around the world has been supportive of Ukraine.  I want to thank all those co-operatives and their members and customers who have supported the appeal by the DEC.

I also want to praise the work of the DEC and call on anyone who can to continue to support their great work.

I am delighted to draw the Scottish Parliament’s attention to this important demonstration of the internationalist values of the co-operative movement.
