We are seeking –

  • Eleven national and regional members – one each for Scotland & Northern Ireland (combined), Wales and the nine English regions.  These are nominated by branches and party councils in the that region and elected by all members in the region.  This time, the elections for the regional representatives in the East, North East and South West will be for women only candidates.
  • One Youth representative (under 27).  These are nominated by branches and party councils and elected by all members under 30.
  • Two representatives of our Societies and affiliates (one man and one woman).  These are nominated and elected by our affiliated organisations.

The NEC sets the strategic direction for the Party and its policy but is also the Board of Co-operative Party Ltd., so its members also need to understand and take responsibility for the governance and legislative obligations of a registered Society.

Co-operative Party Disciplinary Committee (CPDC)

The current term of the Co-operative Party’s Disciplinary Committee (CPDC) finishes in May and we are now seeking new members for 2017-20.  The CPDC has 11 members – one each from Scotland & Northern Ireland, Wales, and the nine English regions.

Members are nominated by Societies, affiliates, Party Councils and branches and elected by the Societies/Affiliates and Party Councils in the region.

This is an important Committee.  It is called upon to meet very rarely but it is necessary to ensure that the rules of the Party are upheld and all members act in accordance with our values and are treated fairly.

At the election in 2014 not all seats were filled and with subsequent vacancies additional members had to be co-opted.

Candidates must be a member of the organisation (branch, local Party, society or affiliate) that nominates them, and must have been a member of the Party continuously for 5 year.  Please get in touch if you want to know more.

Nominations close on 9 March.  To seek nomination, contact your local Party or Society, and then complete the Candidate Information Form.  Nomination forms have been sent to parties and affiliates, but are also available for download below:
