You are invited to join us, in Chesterfield, at a round-table event for Labour or Labour & Co-operative Councillors, prospective candidates and members interested in how we can promote cooperative policies and solutions at a local, municipal, level.

With local elections set for May 2019 the aim is to provide policy ideas for manifestos and practical measures that can be used to make a real difference in our communities. This will include an examination of the Preston Model and the use of the Social Value Act .

Our confirmed panel of top class speakers is as follows:

  • Amanda Serjeant, Deputy Leader of Chesterfield Borough Council, who will report on local procurement initiatives and activity in support of the Charter Against Modern Slavery
  • Sharon Taylor, Leader of Stevenage Borough Council, currently the leading Cooperative Council in the UK
  • Hugh Ellis, Acting Chief Executive of the Town and Country Planning Association who will speak about using land values to power high quality new housing
  • Emma Hoddinott, Rotherham Borough Councillor and the Co-op Party’s Local Government Officer
