Hear from MPs, AMs and local government councillors about co-operation in Westminster, Cardiff Bay and at local government regarding key policy issues for Wales 2021.
Building on the Co-operative Party’s longstanding commitment to action on climate change and our belief that we can achieve more for our environment when working co-operatively than we can alone. We need to reflect on how co-operative approaches can convince and engage those communities who may lose out from environmental measures, whether it’s job losses in older, more polluting industries or new levies on higher emission cars in our cities and towns.
Looking at bottom up initiatives which build stronger communities, we seek to answer wider questions about how power is distributed around the UK, and how to rebalance this to give citizens and communities a greater say and stake. With the With the EU Withdrawal Bill reigniting the debate on devolution, with Westminster retaining control over aspects of law-making which are otherwise devolved to Edinburgh, Cardiff and Belfast, this policy consultation proposes a co-operative vision.
