In our recent policy paper ‘A Co-operative Green New Deal’ we set out the need for far more urgency in tackling climate change including a 2030 net zero carbon target for the UK. This pandemic has taught us that when the world and its communities rally together to meet unprecedented challenged, we can achieve more together than when we act alone. To avert a climate catastrophe, the global co-operation that has developed in response to this crisis must now become our new normal. We urge world leaders at the upcoming COP26 summit to be ambitious and collaborative.
