I was really pleased to hear about Scotmid Co-operative hosting its first Menopause Café recently.  It is so good to see employers taking seriously the impact of menopause on their staff.  As a co-operator I was proud to see that Scotmid were the first co-operative to host a menopause café.  So it was appropriate that it took place in Co-operatives Fortnight.

The menopause café is an informal event which was held online to allow staff to join in from across the country.  It is important that employers take the well-being of staff seriously and recognise the impact that menopause can have on the health and well-being of staff and the wider community.

I was pleased to see that Scotmid Co-operative sponsored the recent menopause festival #FlushFest2022 and that Scotmid donated their space at the festival to Hey Girls, the award winning, buy one give one period product social enterprise.

It is important that the whole of society discusses menopause, and it is important that employers offer a safe space for workers to discuss these issues.  I hope that many more employers will look at this and find ways to deliver similar sessions.
