Black History Month: Reclaiming Narratives & World Mental Health Day

Join us as the Co-operative Party marks 2024’s Black History Month jointly with World Mental Health Day with a discussion of Mental Health and how this impacts our narratives.

This year’s BHM theme of ‘Reclaiming Narratives‘ recognises the vastly different experiences of mental health faced by Black people and other ethnic minorities throughout the UK. We particularly want to encourage open discussion of the way this impacts people.

We have invited our speakers to share their own stories and expertise addressing themes of mental health inequalities, challenging stigma, self-care, and well-being in a diverse world. With:

  • Cllr Lade Olugbemi – facilitator of the NOUS Organisation
  • Cllr Dr Chipiliro Kalebe-Nyamongo – PhD in health inequalities
  • Shuranjeet Singh – member of Labour Campaign for Mental Health and founder of Taraki
  • Chair: Lola Oyewusi – Chair of BAME Co-operators
