County cricket belongs to its members. For generations, in England and Wales supporters have had a direct say in how their clubs are run, helping to keep the game rooted in the communities that built it. Around 80% of County Clubs remain member-owned, making cricket one of the few major sports where fans still have real democratic influence.
Now, this structure is under threat.
Demutualisation would change the game, taking power away from members and handing it to private investors. Those driven by profit tell us this is the only way to secure the future of the game, but county cricket's challenges weren't caused by member ownership. In fact, it will likely make many of cricket's existing issues worse. Once member control is gone, it's gone.
That's why we're starting this campaign to oppose demutualisation. If one major club like Yorkshire demutualises, others could follow.
Cricket is the world's second most popular sport. If you agree that it should be run in the interests of its members, supporters and communities, rather than a handful of wealthy investors, please add your name. We'll keep you updated with more ways you can get involved in our campaign to save cricket.
Add your name and help keep county cricket in the hands of the people who care about it most.
