The Co-operative Party BAME Network is holding a roundtable on Credit Unions during Black History Month. Hosted by Seema Malhotra MP, the event is open to anyone who is in solidarity with members of the BAME movement.
Credit unions are community-based financial co-operatives, owned by members that offer fairer financial services for their members. They are not driven to make money for external shareholders but have to make decisions in the best interest of their members. As well as offering accessible and affordable loans and savings products, they can offer help and support.
The roundtable will be discussing how the co-operative movement can help credit unions grow. Speakers:
Cate Tuitt – Executive Member, London Co-operative Party Council
Geoff Cave – Director and Volunteer, Lewisham Plus Credit Union
Shane Bowes – Chief Executive, Pentecostal Credit Union
If you are attending the event please make sure that you allow at least 15 minutes to get through security.
