International Development

The co-operative movement has a long and proud history of supporting international development and post-conflict rebuilding throughout the world. From Rwanda to Guatemala, co-operatives have helped to provide critical assistance, rebuilt communities, and sparked hope for a better future.

Co-operatives can bring communities together across divides and ensure even the most marginalised have a voice. They reinvest in communities, helping to stabilise areas ravaged by conflict and disasters. By promoting economic resilience and social cohesion, co-operatives help rebuild trust and create lasting foundations for peace.

Join our online Co-operative Party Live event, where we’ll be discussing the roles co-operatives can play in international development, peacebuilding and post-conflict rebuilding with speakers including:

  • Preet Kaur Gill MP, Chair of the Co-operative Party Parliamentary Group and former Shadow Cabinet Minister for International Development[
  • Paul Gerrard, Director of Campaigns, Public Affairs and Policy at the Co-operative Group
  • Alice Macdonald MP, International Development committee member and Labour & Co-operative MP for Norwich North
