In May 2023, Barnardo’s and Co-op launched an ambitious partnership to bring local communities together to support the positive futures of 750,000 10–25-year olds across the UK, following research that found a third of young people do not feel positive about their future.
Young people growing up in poverty face a wide range of barriers with accessing food is part of this. They tell us that getting good, nutritious food, in the places and spaces that work for them is key to them getting on in life, not only helping them grow and develop but also connecting them with other young people.
Join us on Zoom as we identify solutions that are present in existing community spaces and put recommendations to the UK Government, local government and retailers that improve young people’s access to food in the community. With speakers including Cllr Jake Bonetta – Co-op Youth Advisory Group; Alistair Cooper – Lead on Child Poverty at Barnardo’s and Alison Scowen – Senior Campaigns and Public Affairs Manager at the Co-op
