The Co-operative Party and movement has been campaigning for increasing fan ownership of football clubs for over 20 years. The social role of football clubs is integral to many communities – giving people the chance to own their club increases their connection with it, generating a shared responsibility to sustaining ‘their’ club whilst unlocking more volunteers and increased community participation.
