Whether you’ve never been to a Co-operative Party event before or you’re a longstanding stalwart of the movement, our Midlands Regional Conference will have something for you. Drawing on the ideas behind our flagship Community Britain campaign, we’ll be discussing how we build a more co-operative future – one where communities have more power, more ownership and more say over the places they call home. At this crucial moment for our country and our movement, it’s more important than ever that Co-operative Party members and supporters come together to discuss the future we want to build.

Morning Programme

The day opens with a warm civic welcome from Elly Cutkelvin, Deputy Mayor of Leicester City Council.

We’ll then dive into Community Britain, featuring powerful stories and perspectives from Gareth Snell MP, Cllr Elly Cutkelvin, Kathy Hopkin (Save Birmingham), Cllr Carmel Swan and others, exploring how co-operation is making a real difference on the ground.

The morning continues with:

  • Discover the inspiring work of the Co-operative Party’s five Equality Networks: BAME | (dis)Ability | LGBTQ+ | Women | Youth.
  • A local update from Tanya Noon on the progress and priorities of OurCo-op

Afternoon Programme

The afternoon shifts toward national policy, future planning and hands-on workshops. Hear directly from government voices:

  • Alex Norris MP, Minister of State (Home Office), on highlighting how co-operative priorities are being delivered in government.
  • Mike Reader MP, presenting the Local Power Plan and what it means for communities

Then roll up your sleeves in interactive sessions:

  • A Practical Action workshop tackling on how our Community Britain campaign can strengthen communities and push back on the narratives of the Far Right
  • A Policy Consultation workshop shaping the 2026 consultation on Local Government and International Development

A recent member survey highlighted a clear desire for more local activity — and this event has been designed with that in mind. Working with local Party Council officers, we’ve built a programme that reflects what matters most to you and your region. This is your opportunity to help shape the conversation and ensure the priorities of your community are heard.

Tickets are £15 and include a buffet lunch and refreshments.

Registration for this event is now closed.
