Disability: Enabling Participation in Politics

This event will focus on addressing the barriers to standing for political office and getting involved in political activism more broadly.

The panel includes:

  • Sarah Veale (Chair)
  • Dr Elizabeth Evans
    Goldsmith University expert in barriers to participation in Politics. Currently doing an ongoing piece of research interviewing disabled activists in all parties about barriers to standing
  • Rachel Garrick
    Wales Co-operative Party and outgoing Disability Officer, Open Labour. Past Disabled Candidate
  • John Galloway
    Specialist in Adaptive Tech solutions - ‘the technology in your pocket and how it can make political activism and participation more inclusive.’
  • Caroline Walsh
    Researcher in barriers to participation and motivations to volunteering by disabled people. Past candidate Disability Officer Open Labour, Greenwich Coop Party.
