The London Co-op Party Council would like to warmly invite you to join us for a pertinent and thought provoking discussion on Fairtrade. The evening will begin at 6pm on Thursday 16 May in the Jubilee Room in Westminster Hall at the Houses of Parliament, and we will conclude with a drinks reception.
World Fairtrade Day falls in May, and to mark the day we will be looking at Fairtrade issues including conflict minerals and how we can find a more ethical approach to using electric car batteries and other devices which dominate our modern lives, and how we can source such minerals without harming those who work in the supply chain including women and children.
We will be hearing from some excellent speakers from the Conflict Minerals Campaign, the London Mining Network, and the Fairtrade Foundation, and I am also delighted that we will be hearing from Lyn Brown MP who serves as an incredible and inspiring Shadow Minister for Africa as part of Labour’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Team.
