On Tuesday 24 August 2021 a new Law which gives retail workers the protection they need to combat violence, threats and abuse comes into force in Scotland.
This ground-breaking legislation was supported by MSPs after the Co-op Party and USDAW’s long-running campaign led to the Protection of Workers (Retail and Age-restricted Goods and Services) (Scotland) Bill, successfully steered through the Scottish Parliament by Daniel Johnson MSP.
It’s not a one off – since 2020, there’s been an increase in attacks on retail workers – the very people who have got us through this crisis.
Join this facilitated debate as we hear from Labour & Co-op Party politicians Daniel Johnson MSP, Alex Norris MP and a Member of the Wales Senedd (tbc) about why its so important that England and Wales follow Scotland’s lead and what we can do to persuade the UK Government to back similar legislation here too. Chaired by Monica Lennon MSP.
This event will include a facilitated Q&A and will be close captioned for greater accessibility.
