Hosted by Wolverhampton & South Staffs Co-operative Party and Walsall Labour Group.
Open to Co-operative and Labour Party members, this event explores the lessons from Coventry for local government when addressing health inequalities.
Inspired by the work of Professor Sir Michael Marmot and the Marmot Review, A “Marmot City” recognizes that health and health inequalities are largely shaped by the conditions in which people are born, grow, live, work, and age and takes action to improve health and reduce health inequalities.
The “Marmot Review: Fair Society, Healthy Lives” was published in 2010 and highlighted the scale of health inequalities in England and the actions we can take to reduce them. Coventry was one of the first cities to become a Marmot City in 2013. Please join us to learn more about how they have embraced this approach and what they have done to reduce disparities in health outcomes through their endeavours.
There will be opportunities for networking and policy building as part of the event.
Please join us for an thought-provoking and inspiring discussion!
