James Kelly has been the Labour and Co-op MSP for Rutherglen since 2007. He has served in a number of shadow cabinet roles, including the Infrastructure, Investment and Cities brief. While in this portfolio, James worked closely with the Co-op Party on the People’s ScotRail opposing government moves to award the franchise to Dutch firm Abeillio. He is strong supporter of Co-op housing models based on the West Whitlawburn model in his constituency. He also led the move to pay public sector workers a living wage, and a campaign against nuisance callers. He is Co-Convener of the Cross Party Group for Co-ops in Holyrood.
