Johann Lamont

Current Labour and Co-operative MSP for Glasgow Pollok


Johann has been a Labour and Co-operative MSP in Glasgow for the last 16 years. During that time, Johann served as a Scottish Executive Minister and Leader of the Scottish Labour Party. Johann currently sits on the Economy, Energy and Tourism Committee and is involved with various cross-party groups.

Prior to being elected in 1999, Johann spent 20 years teaching in secondary schools across Glasgow, including Castlemilk High School and Springburn Academy, where she worked closely with social services to support children living in poverty.

Johann has a proven track record of building links with a broad cross-section of the community and fighting for a fairer, stronger and co-operative Glasgow.

Johann lives in Cathcart with her husband, Archie.
