Briefing:Labour’s National Policy Forum and Food Justice From: James Butler For attention of: All Party Members Published: 24th May 2019 Last updated: 26th June 2019 Printed: 23rd November 2024 Other formats: Print The Labour Party is currently consulting on a sustainable food policy as part of the 2019 National Policy Forum (NPF) process. We are keen for Co-operative Party members (where they are also Labour members) to support our call for the incorporation of Sustainable Development Goal 2 into UK law. You can do this submitting our template submission, by submitting your own consultation response, or by encouraging your branch and CLP to submit a response. The deadline for consultation responses is Sunday 30 June 2019. You can send your responses online. There is a short guide to how to do this here. Or, you can post your response: The Labour Party, Policy Unit, Southside, 105 Victoria Street, London, SW1E 6QT Labour consultation on a sustainable food policy If you would like to read Labour’s consultation document you can download it below. Download the consultation document Co-operative Party consultation response to a sustainable food policy If you are familiar with our Food Justice Campaign then you will know that our main ask for Parliament is a Right to Food, the incorporation of Sustainable Development Goal 2 (SDG 2), “zero hunger by 2030” into domestic legislation. Scottish Labour is already committed to a Right to Food in Scottish legislation. We are therefore asking the Labour Party to support a Right to Food, the incorporation of SDS2 into UK law. If you are responding to the NPF as an individual Labour Party member then you can copy and paste our response (or write your own if you feel confident about the issue). If you are encouraging your local branch or CLP to reply you may wish to use our template together with our briefing note as a basis for discussion.
