Join the Cornwall branch of the Co-operative Party Branch as we combine a series of speeches from members representing successful local enterprises with a debate on policy.

Incorporating a tour around the Wheal Martyn Claypits and a Cornish cream tea.

Starting at 1pm, join us for coffee/tea and sandwiches while we hear from speakers:

  • Paul Martin from KABIN will speak on Community Energy and the Low energy society. This will help us consider our policy subject Climate change and the environment. KABIN is a Co-operative Development Agency for Cornwall, for more details https://kernowkabin.wordpress.com/
  • Co-op Party member Cllr. Jayne Kirkham Labour Cornwall Councillor will speak on Co-operative values on the County Council and the “Climate Change amendment
  • Mothiur Rahman, from New Economy Law and Community Chartering Network, will talk about People power and co-operation. Direct democracy, participation in deliberative process and citizens' assemblies.
  • John Boyle, Co-operative Party National Party Support & Principle 6 Officer will talk about the branch, upcoming events and lead a discussion on Co-operative Party policy on Climate Change and Creating Cohesive Communities.

The afternoon will incorporate a talk on Wheal Martyn and the Cornish China Clay Industry, with an optional tour of the workings, appropriate footwear is required.
