Join us on Thursday 17th May to mark 100 years since the first legislation on female suffrage, the role of the Cooperative movement in that struggle and what the next 100 years has in store.

Over the course of the evening, we will discuss the role of the Cooperative Women’s Guild, the Co-operative Party and the broader Cooperative Movement in achieving the hard-fought for Representation of the People’s Act (1918). We will also examine where we are now; exploring how much is still left to champion and the role of the Co-operative Party in the achieving full gender equality.

We will be joined over the course of the evening by:

  • Preet Gill, Labour & Co-operative MP for Birmingham Edgbaston (tbc)
  • Karen Wilkie, Deputy General Secretary of the Co-operative Party

There will be an opportunity for networking with fellow members of the Co-operative Women’s Network over some light refreshments.
