At the Co-op Party’s Centenary Conference this year, the Co-op Party Women’s Network will be hosting a lunchtime round-table discussing the important, yet often overlooked, issue of modern slavery and human trafficking.
With a 17% rise in potential victims of human trafficking since 2015, and an estimated 13,000 victims of modern slavery within the UK, modern slavery is a growing problem, and one which we and the co-operative movement are committed to bringing to public attention and tackling.
Inspired by the initiative of the Co-operative Group’s Bright Futures Project, which aims to work with national charities to raise awareness and reintegrate the victims of modern slavery into our local communities, we will be discussing what can be done to tackle one of the greatest human rights abuses of our modern society.
Please RSVP to join us for this round table event with lunch provided. All female Conference attendees and Co-operative Party members are warmly welcome.
