Richard Leonard MSP

Giving the Scottish Co-operative Party’s greetings to the Scottish Labour Party conference, Rita Miller pointed to the disgraceful situation where families are going hungry in twenty-first century Scotland.

Chair of the Scottish Co-operative Party Rita Miller said, “We believe that everyone has the right to food, and we want the Scottish Government to legislate for that.” At the conference the Scottish Co-operative Party was collecting signatures for a petition in support of a right to food. This was hugely popular with delegates and elected representatives.

In her speech to the conference Scottish Co-operative Party MSP, Rhoda Grant, who serves as the Shadow Cabinet Secretary for the Rural Economy spoke in favour of our campaign.

Rhoda Grant said, “We will commit to legislate on a Right to Food – meaning that everyone in Scotland has access to healthy, affordable, sustainable food.”

We will be working with Scottish Co-operative and Scottish Labour elected representatives to promote the case for a ‘Right to Food’

We were delighted that Scottish Co-operative Party member and Scottish Labour Leader Richard Leonard MSP took time at the conference to demonstrate his support for our campaign.
