Encourage your members to act We’re looking for branches to encourage members to raise the profile of modern slavery. Email your members asking them to write to their local paper about the topic, post about it in Facebook Groups & on Twitter, raise it in their union branches, write to their MP and councillors. Check whether your council has signed/adopted the Charter on Modern Slavery by looking at the map of English and Scottish councils. If it has not yet, take a motion to your branch and Labour Party GC asking for the councillors to consider the Charter. Check my council Put a street stall together in September and October We want as many branches as possible to run a small street stall on – don’t forget to post in our events section so we can let other people know about it. You can use their template letter to email your MP to urge them to support the Bill by clicking below. Please note, their website has recently been having a few problems, so you might need to try it later if it does not work first time. That way we can help direct people to whatever you are doing, and help celebrate it when you have finished. If you get a letter published, send us a link.
